Zambian striker Kennedy Musonda found the back of the net for Young Africans of Tanzania as they thrashed Mtibwa Sugar 4-1 in their week 12 Tanzania Premier League fixture on Saturday. Coming off back-to-back draws against Medeama and Al-Ahly in continental competitions, Young Africans looked determined to get back on track in the league. However, despite dominating possession, they struggled to break the deadlock against Mtibwa Sugar in the first half. But right on the cusp of halftime, Stephane Aziz Ki stepped up to score from the penalty spot, putting Young Africans ahead in the second minute of injury time. After the break, the floodgates opened. Aziz Ki doubled the home team's lead just past the hour mark, before Musonda, recalled to the Zambian national team after a brief absence, netted Young Africans' third in the 76th minute. Mahlatse Makudubela added a fourth for the home side in the dying minutes, with Mtibwa Sugar grabbing a consolation goal in the 93rd minute. The win sees Young Africans move to 27 points on the table, just one point behind leaders Azam with two games in hand. For Musonda, the goal comes as a welcome boost as he seeks to find his place in the national team final squad ahead of the Africa Cup of Nations finals in Ivory Coast next year.
