The Elite Ladies FC Club has refuted allegations made by Xiomara Mapepa who claimed the club has been hindering potential transfer deals for her move to other clubs. Contrary to Mapepa's claims, the club clarified that discussions are actively ongoing for her potential transfer to other clubs, citing recent trials in Sweden as evidence of their commitment to facilitating such moves. “Any clubs that wants her, either local or abroad, can make the offer to us and we shall evaluate. However, she is not available for free nor for cheap. We are talking offers above USD 10,000 here,” the statement said. Addressing Mapepa's claims of non-payment for two years, the club asserted that remunerations are up to date in accordance with her current contract, which is valid until May 2024, with an optional one-year extension until May 2025. The club assured that she would not face any punishment, expressing continued belief in her abilities and urging her to focus on training and staying in shape, despite missing the previous week's session and league match. The club reiterated its commitment to developing players for national team representation across various age categories, emphasizing its dedication to fostering talent at the Under 17, Under 20, and senior national teams. These statements follow Mapepa's claims that the club has been obstructing her transfer opportunities and been failing to compensate her, prompted by the club's earlier statement revealing her refusal to play in the last match against Chipata Girls FC.
