Former Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) President, Teddy Mulonga has commended the Chipolopolo for their remarkable comeback and successful qualification for the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) after a prolonged absence from the tournament. Speaking to the Media, Mr. Mulonga acknowledged the challenge that comes with building a successful national team. “Building a successful national team takes time and effort as it requires the success of football at grassroots levels,” he said. Notwithstanding recent performance challenges, Mulonga commended Zambia for currently showcasing exceptional players, emphasizing that this achievement should positively impact the national team. Mr. Mulonga also expressed excitement about the newfound recognition and importance given to women's football in the country, a notable shift from the past. He has encouraged FAZ to ensure the nurturing and transfer of benefits and skills from current players to upcoming juniors, emphasizing the need for sustainability in the sport.
