The Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) has lifted the lifetime ban it imposed on former FAZ president and football administrator Simataa Simataa in 2018. Simataa, who was serving as general manager of City of Lusaka Football Club at the time of the ban, was found guilty of unethical conduct by the FAZ Ethics Committee in April 2018. The violation, deemed contrary to Article 13 (3) of the 2012 FIFA Code of Ethics, involved circulating illegally obtained FAZ documents on social media and to various institutions, allegedly with the aim of discrediting FAZ officials and damaging the association's reputation. However, after a lengthy review, the Ethics Committee has reversed its decision. Simataa expressed his gratitude in a statement, saying, "Firstly I want to thank God for His mercies and grace during this trying period. The Lord is GOOD. Secondly, I wish to thank the FAZ for being magnanimous as to review my case and find lift my ban. Thank you. Thirdly, to all my friends and family that have supported me this last 6 years in this matter – thank you. God bless Zambia and you all." FAZ general secretary Reuben Kamanga confirmed the decision, stating that the Ethics Committee met in Lusaka this week and unanimously voted to lift the ban and all associated sanctions. This marks a significant development in Simataa's career, potentially paving the way for his return to football administration.
