Chipolopolo and Leicester City Striker Patson Daka says the Cameroon friendly game served as a crucial assessment of the team's readiness for the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament. Speaking in a post-match interview, Daka said the match has offered guidance on specific areas needing improvement, and this will direct the team's focus as they conclude their training. Emphasizing the significance of teamwork, he stated, "It is all about the group, who is in front of the goal and able to utilize the opportunity in that moment. And I am happy that I was in that position today and helped my team score." Daka further acknowledged the tournament's challenges but assured that the team is ready. The camp helped them bond and understand each others weaknesses. He emphasized the team's readiness to compete and give their best performance. "We are going there not just to be participants, but we are going there to compete. We are going there for a reason, we did not qualify by mistake," he emphasized. The friendly against Cameroon resulted in a 1-1 draw, setting the stage for the team to conclude its training camp in Saudi Arabia before embarking on the AFCON journey in Ivory Coast, commencing on January 13th.
