In a dramatic turn of events, Esau Chalo Zulu has regained his position as head coach of Chipata United following a reconciliation with the club's executive committee. The news comes as a welcome relief for the team and its fans, who have been embroiled in turmoil since Zulu's suspension earlier this week. The reconciliation stems from a meeting held yesterday at the Council Chamber in Chipata, where both parties addressed their differences. According to sources present at the meeting, the executive was directed to reverse its decision to dismiss Zulu, paving the way for his return. Zulu's initial suspension had sparked controversy, stemming from his suggestion to the club's executive chairman to dissolve the committee if they couldn't secure sponsors for the financially struggling team. The suggestion, fueled by the team's reliance on gate takings and well-wishers for everyday operations, did not sit well with the current executive, leading to Zulu's dismissal. However, yesterday's meeting allowed for a constructive dialogue, and both parties ultimately sought to prioritize the team's stability and success. With this issue resolved, the immediate focus turns to reviving the team's fortunes on the pitch. Chipata United was granted a two-week grace period by the Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) to resolve its internal issues before resuming league fixtures. The team had previously been split, with some players training under Zulu and others under the executive's direction.
