Zambia midfielder Emmanuel Banda has described the just-concluded training camp in Saudi Arabia as "amazing" and believes it has put the team in high spirits ahead of their opening Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) match against the Democratic Republic of Congo on January 17th. Speaking to Faz Media, Banda said the team was pushed to their limits during the camp but emerged stronger and more unified. "The camp has been amazing," Banda declared. "We found good facilities, they pushed us to the limit, and the team is in high spirit." Zambia wrapped up their camp in Saudi Arabia on Thursday and has now shifted to San Pedro in Ivory Coast, where Group F matches will be played. The tournament kicks off this Saturday. The Chipolopolo Boys played a practice match against Cameroon while in Saudi Arabia, drawing 1-1 with Patson Daka scoring for Zambia. Banda believes the game was a valuable test against a strong opponent. "It was a good game playing against Cameroon knowing they are a good side," he said. "It was encouraging how we played as a team." He added that the Cameroon match helped the team identify areas for improvement. "It really helped us a lot and showed us where we need to improve going forward." Despite feeling ready for the tournament, Banda emphasized the importance of taking each game as it comes, with the immediate focus on winning the opening match against DR Congo. "I would say we are very ready," Banda stated. "The vibe is already there, we will keep a closer eye on each game, but the most important thing is our opening game. We want to win to start on a high note." He also urged fans to continue their unwavering support for the team. "We urge them to support us like they have done in the past," he said. "We hope to see some fans in the stadium when we play in Ivory Coast."
