Zambian U-20 striker Mary Mbewe has swapped the Copperbelt for East Africa, joining Tanzanian giants Yanga Princesses on a six-month loan deal from ZESCO Ndola Girls. The move, announced by ZESCO Ndola Girls on social media, sees Mbewe become the third Zambian woman to play in Tanzania, following in the footsteps of Dorothy Mukatasha (Simba Queens) and Natasha Witika (Tiger Queens). Interestingly, all three players made the switch from the Ndola-based club. Mbewe's new coach at Yanga Princesses is a familiar face: Zambia's U-20 women's national team coach Charles Halubono. He identified the striker's potential during the recent U-20 World Cup qualifiers against the Democratic Republic of Congo and played a key role in securing her move. The 20-year-old joined ZESCO Ndola Girls at the start of the current FAZ/ZPL season after a loan spell with Queens Sports Academy, where she spent two seasons with the Royal Girls. She is a talented and versatile attacker, known for her pace, dribbling skills, and ability to finish. Mbewe's loan move presents her with an exciting opportunity to gain valuable experience and exposure in a competitive league like the Tanzanian Women's Premier League. She will be hoping to impress at Yanga Princesses and potentially earn a permanent move to the club in the future.
