Joseph "Sabobo" Banda has inked a five-year contract with the Swiss football giants, FC Zurich. The talented Zambian national team player completed the transfer from Athletico Lusaka, facilitated by his agent, Nir Karin. Sabobo, who featured for Athletico Lusaka since the age of 15, caught the eye of FC Zurich during a trial. However, last year's age restrictions prevented the deal from materializing, leading him back to Athletico Lusaka, who subsequently loaned him to Nkwazi Football Club until he reached the age of 18 last December. Joining the ranks of Zambian players making strides in Europe from atletico Lusaka, Sabobo follows the footsteps of Miguel Chaiwa, Richard Ngoma, Gift Mphande, Kingstone Mutandwa, and others yet to come. Expressing his elation, Sabobo stated, "I’m very happy to sign my first professional contract in Europe. It's a dream come true. I want to thank Athletico Lusaka for all the support and belief in me. I would also like to express gratitude to my agent, Nir Karin, for commencing this journey with me two years ago. I'm eager to start my new chapter with FC Zurich." Agent Nir Karin shared his sentiments on this momentous occasion: "It's a joyous day, and I wish Sabobo the very best with his new club. Many years ago, Emmanuel Mayuka played in Switzerland, setting the stage for players like Miguel Chaiwa, and now Sabobo is taking the next step. I'm hopeful that we will see an increasing number of Zambian players in the Swiss league
