Chipolopolo coach Avram Grant says the 1-1 tie between Zambia and the Democratic Republic of Congo was a fair outcome of the match looking at the challenge posed by Congo's high quality players who play in top leagues. In a post-match press conference, Grant acknowledged the struggle in passing balls against a well-marked opposition but praised his team's resilience. “I think the draw is a fair result because even Congo who were sharper than us wasted their chances. Congo have a very good team, very balanced team good midfield players, defenders fantastic but still a very good result for us but even when you are winning you are always disappointed,” he said. “I think we didn’t pass the ball as we wanted but Congo defended very well, they marked very well. It was very difficult to score chances against them we need to prepare more.” Despite the draw, he acknowledged Congo's threat and highlighted the need for better preparation. Grant added that the Chipolopolo did their best considering the challenging circumstances of having players who are not 100% fit due to limited game time at their respective clubs. “You also need to remember that we had a lot of best 11 players that do not play regularly with their clubs, so they are not 100 percent fit. They have just played three or four games over the last months that’s why I am happy because they were fighting throughout the game.” Meanwhile, DR Congo's coach, Sebastian Desabre also shared his satisfaction with his team's performance, stating that many underestimated the speed and quality of his players. Looking ahead, Zambia faces Tanzania on Sunday at the Laurent Pokou Stadium.
