James Chamanga has labeled most of the Zambian players who featured in the 1-1 draw against DR Congo as "average," expressing disappointment in their overall performance. Speaking after the frustrating draw, which saw Zambia struggle to string together passes in the opposition half, Chamanga acknowledged the point as the sole positive but lamented the lackluster display. "The positive about the game against Congo DR was getting a point," he conceded. "But on the negative side, most of our players, they didn't come to the party. Most of them were average." Zambia managed a meager three shots with one on target compared to Congo's 25 and 6 on target, prompting Chamanga to urge the team to pick up the pace, starting with the upcoming match against Tanzania. "Hopefully they pick up in the coming game because in the first game Congo had over 20 shots while we had about five," he emphasized. "Congo were unfortunate because they had a lot of ball possession. Our boys need to up their game. If they continue playing the way they played against Congo we can't go to the second round. We need to be honest with ourselves, we didn't play so well." However, Chamanga was quick to praise Stoppila Sunzu for his exceptional performance at the back. "Sunzu played well," he declared. "He commanded the defence and with his experience, he stood very well. For me he was man of the match." Chamanga also acknowledged Patson Daka's effort as a lone striker despite receiving limited passes. Looking ahead to the Tanzania match, Chamanga warned against complacency. "Going into the next game, the boys must pick up from the positives first of all," he cautioned. "Scoring the first goal will be important in the next game because Tanzania have watched our game and I'm sure they have studied our weaknesses and our strengths so it won't be an easy game." Chamanga, currently playing for Red Arrows, urged the players to perform to their best, emphasizing the difficulty of the upcoming match if they replicate their display against Congo. "I would urge the players to come to the party because it will be a very difficult game," he asserted. "If we play the way we did against Congo DR even the Tanzania game will be difficult."
