Zambia's fortunes at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations hang in the balance as they face Morocco in their final Group F encounter on Wednesday. After two draws and only two points collected, FAZ president Andrew Kamanga described the upcoming match as a "cup final" in his weekly presidential corner column on Monday. "Chipolopolo sit third in Group F with two points," Kamanga wrote. "The scenario makes the final Group C match one to fight for with everything." Despite playing with ten men after Rodrick Kabwe's red card in the second half, Zambia held Tanzania to a respectable 1-1 draw on Sunday. This marked an improvement from their opening draw against DR Congo, and Kamanga believes the team can rise to the occasion against Morocco. "There have been a lot of positives thus far at the tournament to give us enough belief that we can get the desired result against the Atlas Lions of Morocco," he said. "We have improved as we have progressed at the tournament and should be in a stronger place in the next game." Kamanga, who is currently in Ivory Coast for the tournament, assured fans that the team is giving their all ahead of the crucial match. "We will be keeping it positive as we interact with the boys who have shown great character to dig themselves out of difficult situations, as was the case in the game against Tanzania." He concluded by calling on the public to continue supporting the team. "Our plea to the public is support the team as they represent us at this highly competitive tournament," Kamanga said. "We have ridden on the back of massive public support from home and here up to this point and expect that the team be pushed even further." Zambia's fate rests on their performance against Morocco in a match that promises to be a nail-biter.
