Juarez Femenil suffered their first defeat of the Liga MX Femenil season on Tuesday, falling 2-1 to Pumas despite a valiant effort from Zambia's Prisca Chilufya. The Copper Queens attacker played 79 minutes for Juarez, who started brightly and held Pumas scoreless in the first half. However, just nine minutes after the restart, Aerial Chavarin broke the deadlock for the home side. Juarez pushed for an equalizer, but their hopes were dashed when Tanzania defender Julitha Singano received a second yellow card in the 72nd minute. With a player down, Juarez's attacking threat diminished, and they conceded again in the 82nd minute through Stephanie Ribeiro. Despite the late blow, Juarez managed a consolation goal in the 90th minute through 33-year-old Jasmine Casarez. The defeat drops Juarez to 10th place on the table with five points from four games. Chilufya's substitution in the 79th minute coincided with Juarez's reduced attacking threat, highlighting her importance to the team. The Zambian international will be hoping to get back on the winning track when Juarez hosts Santos Laguna on Friday, who are still searching for their first win of the season and sit at the bottom of the table.
