Zambia national team defender, Frankie Chisenga Musonda, expressed his disappointment as the team fell short of advancing to the knockout stage in the 2023 TotalEnergies Cote D'Ivoire Africa Cup of Nations. Despite giving their all, Zambia faced elimination in the group stage. Musonda, making his tournament debut alongside many fellow players, showcased a commendable performance in the center-back position alongside veteran defender Stoppila Sunzu. The Ayr United defender took to Instagram to share his sentiments on the AfCON exit, stating, "We gave our all, unfortunately, it wasn't enough." In the final group match of Group F against Morocco, Musonda and the team displayed one of their best performances in years, narrowly losing 1-0. Despite the disappointment, Musonda conveyed resilience, saying, "We are all disappointed, but we will learn from the experience and come back stronger." Zambia, after missing three editions of the tournament, views their participation this year as a solid foundation for the current crop of young players. They aim to make a strong return in the 2025 Morocco tournament. Musonda, who opted to play for Zambia over his birth country England, emphasized the honor of representing his nation. He expressed gratitude, stating, "It's always an honor to wear this shirt. Thank you for your support." Photo Credit -FAZ Media
