Zambia's U20 Women's National Team Striker Mary Mbewe made a stellar debut for Yanga Princess in a 1-0 victory over Bunda Queens in the 2023/24 Tanzanian Women's Premier League. Mbewe, who is also former Zesco Ndola Girls Football Club striker is on a 6-month loan from Zesco Ndola Girls and she impressed in Yanga's starting lineup, contributing to the team's success at Azam Sports Complex in Chamazi. Yanga secured a 1-0 triumph with a late 72nd-minute goal by Kaeda Wilson and clinched a hard-fought victory over the sixth-placed Bunda Queens. This win propelled Yanga to third place on the table with 12 points, just one shy of second-placed Simba Queens. Simba Queens are set to play a home game at Azam Sports Complex against Alliance Girls today. Meanwhile, Yanga trails the league leaders, JKT Queens by three points. JKT Queens will be facing Fountain Gates on the same date in Dodoma.
