In a dramatic climax worthy of the Africa Cup of Nations, Guinea snatched victory in the dying seconds of their Round of 16 clash against Equatorial Guinea, Mohamed Bayo's bullet header sending the Syli Nationale marching into the quarterfinals with a 1-0 win. Equatorial Guinea, riding high after topping their group with a perfect record, entered the match brimming with confidence. However, the first half proved to be a cagey affair, with both sides canceling each other out and the score locked at 0-0 at the break. The second half took a turn for the worse for Equatorial Guinea when Federico Bikoro saw red in the 55th minute for a reckless challenge, reducing them to ten men. Despite the numerical disadvantage, they still managed to carve out a golden opportunity to take the lead in the 69th minute. Unfortunately for Emilio Nsue, the tournament's top scorer at the time, his expertly-placed penalty hit the bottom of the post, agonizingly keeping the scores level. As the clock ticked down and extra time loomed, the drama reached fever pitch. With just two minutes of additional time remaining, Ibrahim Diakité whipped in a pin-point cross that found Bayo unmarked in the box. The Guinean striker met the ball with a thunderous header, leaving the Equatorial Guinean keeper with no chance and sending the Syli Nationale bench and fans into raptures. The late winner left Equatorial Guinea heartbroken, their beautiful journey at the tournament ending in the cruelest of ways. Despite playing with a man down for almost half the game, they put up a valiant fight but were ultimately undone by a single moment of brilliance in the dying seconds. Guinea, meanwhile, will face either Egypt or DR Congo in the quarterfinals, their reward for a dramatic and hard-fought victory. Bayo's last-gasp header will undoubtedly be remembered as one of the most dramatic moments of the tournament. Photo Credit - CAF Media
