Zambian international Rachael Kundananji, who came on as a second-half substitute last week in Madrid CFF's 3-1 victory over Real Betis, found herself back on the bench for Sunday's La Liga F clash against Real Sociedad. This time, however, the Copper Queens attacker remained glued to the sidelines, witnessing the entire 1-1 draw unfold without seeing a single minute of action. Despite the disappointment of another bench appearance, Madrid CFF clawed their way up to fourth place in the table with 31 points, climbing one spot from their previous fifth-place ranking. Nevertheless, with two crucial back-to-back Olympic qualifiers against Ghana looming, Zambia coach Bruce Mwape might be concerned about Kundananji's lack of playing time heading into such vital national duty. The Copper Queens are determined to return to the Olympic Games after securing Africa's lone women's football representative slot at the 2021 Tokyo Olympics. Kundananji's fitness and match sharpness will be crucial to Zambia's success in these qualifiers. However, with Madrid's next fixture against Sevilla at home on February 3rd, there's a higher chance that the Zambian goal machine might finally regain her place in the starting lineup.
