Zambian international defender Kabaso Chongo has officially joined Kabwe Warriors on a two-year deal, marking his return home after a decade-long stint with TP Mazembe in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Kabwe Warriors announced the signing on Wednesday via social media, expressing their delight in bringing Chongo's experience to the club. "Kabwe Warriors Football Club is pleased to announce the signing of Zambian International defender Kabaso Chongo on a two-year permanent deal," the club wrote. "Chongo joins the People's Team until December 2025 from Congolese side TP Mazembe." Chongo's arrival comes at a crucial time for Kabwe Warriors, who are currently placed 5th on the Super League table with 32 points from 20 games. Their last game before the league break was a disappointing 3-2 home defeat against Mufulira Wanderers, highlighting the need for defensive reinforcements. The 31-year-old brings a wealth of experience to the Kabwe Warriors backline, having spent ten years with TP Mazembe, where he won numerous trophies, including the CAF Champions League. His leadership and defensive prowess are expected to provide much-needed stability to the Kabwe Warriors defense. Kabwe Warriors, who were once atop the table earlier in the season, are now seven points behind leaders Zesco United. With the second half of the season set to kick off on February 17th, the club hopes that Chongo's arrival will provide the consistency they need to finish the season in a respectable position.
