Oriental Quarries Boxing, a prominent boxing organization in Zambia, has appealed to the government, through the Ministry of Youths, Sports and Arts, to actively promote boxing across the country. Organization Boxing Promoter Manager, Christopher Malunga, highlighted his observation that boxing participation is currently concentrated within Lusaka, the capital city. Speaking at a media briefing in Lusaka, Malunga urged amateur boxing coordinators to explore ways to involve and encourage participation from other provinces in upcoming competitions. In addition to the call for national promotion, Oriental Quarries Boxing also announced an upcoming Africa Boxing Union (ABU) competition. The event will feature a fight between Zambia's ABU defending champion, David Mwale, and Kenya's James Mungeni. Malunga revealed that the competition is scheduled for April 6, 2024, at the Government Complex in Lusaka, with a total budget of 910,000 Zambian Kwacha. He further announced a supporting main title match featuring Zambia's Gracious Simwalizi against Asan Milanzi from Zimbabwe.
