Stephane Aziz Ki's 29th-minute goal proved decisive as Kennedy Musonda's Yanga edged out Geita Gold FC, clinching all three points and maintaining their stronghold at home. Fresh from a resounding 5-0 triumph over Ihefu FC, Young Africans Football Club entered the fixture as clear favorites. Zambian international Musonda, a pivotal figure in the squad, featured in the starting lineup. Despite high expectations, Yanga managed only a solitary goal, yet it sufficed to secure victory, consolidating their position atop the league standings. With 52 points accrued from 19 matches, Yanga remain at the summit, with Azam closely trailing behind with 44 points. Arch-rivals Simba occupy the third spot with 42 points, having played 18 games thus far. Since joining Yanga in January last year, Musonda has played a pivotal role in the team's success, clinching the League and Cup double. Buoyed by their current form, Yanga appears resolute in their quest to defend the league title. Musonda's impact extends beyond the domestic arena, as he has been instrumental in Yanga's journey to the quarterfinal stage of the CAF Champions League. His stellar performances have not gone unnoticed, earning him a call-up to the national team. National team coach Avram Grant has named Musonda among the 24-member squad set to compete in the Four Nations Tournament in Lilongwe, Malawi, scheduled from March 21st to 26th during the FIFA international break.
