The Zambian Men's National Team sets its sights on a historic first World Cup qualification as they prepare to host Tanzania at Ndola's Levy Mwanawasa Stadium on June 11th, 2024. Coach Avram Grant's squad will regroup in Europe this month to prepare for the June qualifiers. Their opening match during the upcoming FIFA break is an away fixture against Morocco on June 3rd. The Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) President Andrew Kamanga explained the European camp choice, citing similar weather conditions to North Africa and easier travel for European-based players. FAZ has also issued an important call to Zambian fans ahead of the home clash against Tanzania. The request comes after unruly behavior marred a previous Olympic qualifier against Ghana. "Our next FIFA World Cup qualifier against Tanzania in Ndola on June 11th should present a perfect test for our fans to be at their best behavior," FAZ President continued. "Our teams should be able to enjoy the comfort and homeliness of being before their own fans. It is not in doubt that when the fans turn in numbers to cheer our teams, they do exceptionally well." With a crucial qualifier on the horizon, Zambia aims to combine strong on-field performance with positive support from the stands.
