In a groundbreaking achievement, Handball Coach Memory Suliya has become the first Zambian coach to be selected for the prestigious International Coaching Course for Handball at Leipzig University. This remarkable opportunity, spanning from August 2024 to January 2025, will see Memory undergo a comprehensive training program aimed at enhancing her coaching skills and promoting the development of handball in Zambia. The program is structured into three parts: a one-month online session, a four-month residential session in Germany, and a final month in Zambia. This unique opportunity will allow Memory to gain valuable knowledge and expertise, which she can apply to her coaching and contribute to the growth of handball in her home country. Memory, who is also a member of the National Olympic Academy, expressed her excitement about the program, particularly highlighting her passion for promoting girls' participation in sports. Her dedication to this cause is truly inspiring, and her selection for this course is a testament to her hard work and commitment. Olympians Association of Zambia Chairperson Jonathan Chipalo OLY, an alumnus of Leipzig University, extended his warm congratulations to Memory, acknowledging her remarkable achievement. He emphasized the importance of having more female participants in such programs, saying, "It is time for women to give their best and go above gender issues. This is what I have seen in Coach Memory in the few times she has been undergoing her screening and interviews both in Zambia and with the Leipzig University staff. Even during some sessions with her, she has shown great willpower, just like us men." The picture accompanying this article shows Memory proudly standing alongside Dorothee Hoidorn, First Secretary of Culture, Press, and Trade Affairs at the Federal Republic of Germany in Zambia, and Olympians Association of Zambia Chairperson Jonathan Chipalo OLY. We join the Olympians Association of Zambia and the entire handball community in extending our heartfelt congratulations to Memory Suliya on this outstanding achievement. Her dedication to promoting girls in sports and her passion for handball are truly commendable, and we wish her all the best in her future endeavors.
