ZAMBIAN BOXERS PARIS 2024 OLYMPIC DREAMS COME TO AN END. Zambian boxers Stephen Zimba and Mwengo Mwale's hopes of competing in the Paris 2024 Olympic Games have been dashed after they were eliminated during the qualifiers in Bangkok, Thailand. Despite putting up a good fight, the duo was eliminated on unanimous points in their respective fights. Zimba was defeated by Brazil's Wanderson de Oliviera in the featherweight category, while Mwale lost to Abduraimov of Ukraine in the middle lightweight category. This elimination occurred in the round of 32 of the men's competition. Although Zimba and Mwale's Olympic dreams have come to an end, Zambia has already secured qualification in three sports disciplines for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. Patrick Chinyemba (boxing), Muzala Samukonga (athletics), and the Copper Queens (football) have all qualified for the prestigious international event. The elimination of Zimba and Mwale is a setback for Zambian boxing, but the country's boxing federation will be looking to bounce back and secure more qualification spots in the future. For now, the focus will shift to the qualified athletes as they prepare to represent Zambia at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. Follow Zed Sport for all the latest sports news and updates.
