According to the CAF African Club Five-Year Ranking System, Zanaco FC are unshaken and have still maintained their spot as the best team in Zambia. According to the rankings, Zanaco FC sits in the top 60 of the best clubs in Africa, ranking 54th. This information is 100 percent credible, but many football fans will be left in awe and doubt after reading it.   Now here is a simple summarized breakdown of how the CAF club ranking system works. The clubs are judged based on their performances at the continental competitions, which are the CAF champions league and the Confederation Cup in particular. Now understand that clubs are given points for participating in the continental championships; however, points are not given according to individual match results but rather the team's final position in the competition. A club that wins the CAF Champions League, for example, receives 6 points, while the runners-up receive 5 points, semi-finalists receive 4 points, and so on, and you descend through the positions.   Now, according to the five-year ranking system, a club will collect its points after the end of the season according to how they fair. In the next season, the points will be multiplied according to how they perform(that is if the team will still qualify for the competition). According to the 2024–2025 CAF ratings (which are still subject to being updated), Zanaco FC have 3.5 points, making them the highest-rated club in Zambia. Coming in second place is Nkana FC, who are ranked #62 in Africa with 2 points, and Napsa stars in third with 1 point.   In a nutshell, in order to increase the club rankings, Zambian clubs will have to perform better in African competitions. Given the previous glory seasons and performances outside Zambia, Zanaco FC is the highest-ranked club in Zambia.
