CLATUS CHOTA CHAMA, SIMBA SC MISSES OUT ON CAF CHAMPIONS LEAGUE QUALIFICATION The Tanzanian Premier League 2023/2024 season has come to a close, and Simba SC and Zambian midfielder Clatous Chota Chama Junior narrowly missed out on CAF Champions League qualification. Despite an impressive 69 points from 30 matches, the team's inferior goal difference proved to be the deciding factor. While Zambian Striker Kennedy Musonda and Young Africans emerged as champions once again, securing 80 points, they will also participate in the Champions and CAF Champions League. Azam FC took second place with 69 points, edging out Simba SC on goal difference. Simba SC won 21 matches, drew 6, and lost 3, scoring 59 goals and conceding 25, with a goal difference of +34. Clatous Chama, who returned from injury, came on as a second-half substitute in Simba's final league match, a 2-0 home win over JKT Tanzania. He scored an impressive five plus goals in the league this season, making him one of the top scorers for the team. Simba SC's season statistics highlight their strong performance, with a win rate of 70% and a goal-scoring average of 1.97 goals per match. Their top scorers include Essomba Onana, Luamba Ngoma, Denis Kibu, Clatous Chama, and Saidi Ntibazonkiza, who all contributed significantly to the team's goal tally. The team's assist leaders include Che Malone, Henock Inonga Baka, Luamba Ngoma, Mohamed Hussein, and Shomari Kapombe, who all provided six assists each throughout the season. While Simba SC's failure to qualify for the CAF Champions League is a disappointment, their strong performance in the Tanzanian Premier League demonstrates their potential for future success. With a talented squad and experienced players like Clatous Chama, Simba SC will look forward to coming back stronger in 2024/2024 season. For all the latest sports news updates, follow Zed Sport.
