Chomba Mwandila is a youthful yet bright MMA fighter from the Ulemu Fight Academy, one of Zambia's largest MMA talent pools. Chomba spoke with one of our Zed Sport reporters about his recent bout at the Impact Championship and shared some background on his career so far. Chomba felt a sudden pull to the MMA world after searching for a gym program online and coming across Ulemu Fight Academy. He began his combat career in 2021, practicing hard with the academy until they believed his seeds were ready to germinate. Despite his major involvement in the MMA world on a large scale in 2021, Chomba has been practicing the arts since he was in sixth grade, so it is virtually a part of his life. Chomba was chosen to represent the great nation of Zambia at Impact FC in Congo DRC. When asked about his experience at Impact FC, he stated, "I enjoyed my stay there and everything was done with quality". We inquired if it was his first time representing the country, and he answered, "No, my first time was in Namibia [at the IMMAF championships]." Chomba battled Rebuen Illunga at Impact FC and won for Zambia via TKO. His hard work and persistence paid off handsomely. When asked what's next for him, he said simply but forcefully, "More fights and more wins". Follow Zed sport more comprehensive coverage on all sports in Zambia.
