ZESCO United have ended their interest in acquiring the services of FC Muza striker Andrew Phiri after the Mazabuka-based Super League side informed them that they have their own plans for the player. It is believed that Phiri was also interested in moving to ZESCO United, but the latest information from the Ndola giants states that FC Muza wrote back and clearly stated that the player was in their plans and that they had different plans for him. "Yes, we were interested because he is one of the best players," a ZESCO United insider told Bwezani Mbewe. "Unfortunately, negotiations did not begin because FC Muza stated that they have different plans for the player." Phiri did not attend the FC Muza pre-season training camp in Luapula and has not yet reported to camp. The reasons for his absence from camp are not available. However, when contacted, FC Muza stated that Phiri had played a lot of football last season and needed a break following the COSAFA Championship.
