Zambian boxers Felistus Nkandu, Margaret Tembo, and Patrick Chinyemba have advanced to the next stage of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games Qualifying Tournament, taking place in Dakar, Senegal. Nkandu, competing in the women's 60kg category, advanced to the quarterfinals by defeating Morocco's Nisrine Amine. Tembo, in the women's 50kg category, secured her spot in the round of 16 by defeating Senegal's Dieynaba Diallo. Chinyemba, competing in the men's 51kg category, advanced to the quarterfinals after defeating Mozambique's Nordine Issufo. Regrettably, five other Zambian boxers were eliminated from the tournament: Stephen Zimba (men's 71kg), Hilda Ngandwe (women's 54kg), Andrew Chilata (men's 63kg), Mwengo Mwale (men's 57kg), and Mary Mhango (women's 57kg). It's important to note that only gold medal winners in the men's category in this qualifying tournament will secure direct qualification to the Paris 2024 Games, while finalists in the women's category will also secure direct qualification.
