In a display of skill and determination, Zambia's Patrick Chinyemba secured his place in the final, triumphing over Tunisia's Said Mortaji. This victory marked a significant step towards Chinyemba's dream of becoming a two-time Olympian, showcasing his prowess in the world of boxing. However, Chinyemba's journey to the finals also highlighted the stark reality of competition. With Felistus Nkandu's elimination, he now stands as the lone representative for Zambia in this intense boxing event. Felistus Nkandu's Olympic dreams were cut short during the ongoing African boxing Olympics qualifiers in Dakar, Senegal. She faced a formidable opponent in Cynthia Ogunsemilore Temitayo from Nigeria in the semi-final match of the 60kg category. Unfortunately, Nkandu fell short, losing to Temitayo in a hard-fought battle. Cynthia Ogunsemilore Temitayo's victory not only secured her place in the final stage of the boxing competition but also earned her an automatic Olympic qualification.
