Green Buffaloes striker, Golden Mashata, is determined to win the Golden Boot award this season after a challenging start to the campaign. The Zambian international drew inspiration from Argentina's performance at the World Cup, believing their early struggles were temporary, and he proved to be right. Mashata has now scored three goals in his last five games, putting him just three goals behind the current top scorer, Andrew Phiri of FC MUZA. "Yes, I am working hard to continue scoring, and I believe there are more goals to come," he told Zed Sport in an exclusive interview. Mashata has also made significant improvements to his game, which have contributed to Green Buffaloes' recent success. "I think I have a good chance of scoring more goals," he said. As an individual player, Mashata is confident that he has what it takes to lead Green Buffaloes to victory in the league this season. "Yes, I have it all. I have continuously improved my game, so I am definitely sure I will help my team this season," he said. Mashata is also motivated by his mother, who has faced many challenges in her life. "My mum always motivates me. She has fought numerous battles in her life, so she is always there for me to ensure I stay on the right path," he said. Regarding the team, Mashata feels that his coach and the technical bench have pushed him to work hard and have faith in his abilities. "I believe my coach and the technical bench push me to work hard and have faith in me," he said. In addition to the team's objectives, Mashata's personal aspirations for the season are to continue improving and address his weaknesses. He will, as always, seek guidance from God. "As I mentioned earlier, I just want to improve and work on my weaknesses. I will seek God's guidance, as I always do. I will follow the path the Lord directs and embrace His plans for me," he said.
