Chipolopolo Boys' speedy winger Lameck Banda scored an equalizer for his Italian side, Lecce, who came from two goals down in the first half to draw 2-2 against AC Milan on Saturday. Banda, who had not scored a goal in the league this season, started the match against a much more experienced AC Milan side that dominated much of the proceedings in the first half. However, Banda had two or three attempts on goal, but he was unable to beat the Milan keeper. It was the French striker, Olivier Giroud, who opened the scoring for Milan in the 28th minute, and they doubled their advantage in the 35th minute through Tijjani Reijnders. By halftime, Milan were two goals up and comfortably leading. The restart breathed life into the Lecce side, who had come into the match on the back of three consecutive defeats. They scored their first goal in the 66th minute when substitute Nicola Sansone, just three minutes into the game, got their side back into the game. Three minutes later, Nicola Sansone set up Lameck Banda for his first goal of the season. Lecce thought they had grabbed the winner after Giroud was booked again for dissent and saw red. With a few minutes left, Roberto Piccoli scored a stunning 35-yard goal, but his goal was ruled out by VAR for a foul in the build-up. Lecce had to settle for a draw after an excellent performance. Banda will report for national team duty in two days' time ahead of the World Cup qualifier match against Congo Brazzaville set for Levy Mwanawasa Stadium next Friday. He will be hoping to carry his goal-scoring form into the international arena.
