Copper Queens midfielder Ireen Lungu has shared that the team is geared up for the start of the tournament as Zambia prepares for their maiden debut at the World Cup at the senior level. Speaking from New Zealand, Lungu said that the morale in the team is high, and everyone is working hard to secure a spot in the starting lineup. "The feeling in camp is good, everyone is in a positive mood, and we are all ready for the World Cup," Lungu said. "The weather is cold, but we are getting used to it now compared to the day we arrived here. The team's morale going into the opening game is high after our victory over Germany." Lungu, who has been an integral part of the Copper Queens team, emphasized that the team is prepared for the World Cup and aims to capitalize on every opportunity they create during the tournament. "We are pushing one another, and we want to maximize every chance that comes our way because in most of the games we have played, we have created numerous opportunities, and we just have to capitalize on them," Lungu said. "Everyone is ready for the World Cup." The Copper Queens will face Japan in their opening match of the tournament on July 22.
