Zambia's Chipolopolo boys have been hit by more injury concerns ahead of their 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers opener against Congo Brazzaville. National team coach Avram Grant has revealed that Lubambo Musonda, Kelvin Kampamba, and Evans Kangwa have all sustained injuries at their clubs and are likely to miss the match against Congo Brazzaville. Grant is already missing Frankie Musonda due to injury, and Thandie Mwape is still without a club after leaving TP Mazembe. However, the injuries may also present an opportunity for other players to step up and fill the void left by the unavailable players. On Friday, skipper Lubambo Musonda played a full 90 minutes and put up a man-of-the-match performance for his Silkeborg IF side, but he picked up an injury in that match. Evans Kangwa's last appearance for his Chinese side, Qingdao Huanghai, was in an FA Cup tie on October 7th, and he is also struggling with injury. The team is expected to hold its first training session tomorrow in Ndola, as some players are expected to have reported for camp by then ahead of Friday's match at Levy Mwanawansa Stadium. A positive result at home against Congo Brazzaville would put the Chipolopolo boys in a good position to have a go at a World Cup place for the first time in men's football at the senior level.
