Zambian captain Lubambo Musonda put in a man-of-the-match performance for his club Silkeborg IF on Friday, just three days before he is due to report for national team duty ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers opener against Congo Brazzaville on November 17th in Ndola. Musonda played the full match for Silkeborg as they came from behind to draw 1-1 at home against Randers FC in a Danish Super League round 15 encounter played on Friday evening at JYSK Stadium. Deployed as a full-back, Musonda had an excellent performance and will be confident in replicating that when he represents Zambia next Friday in Ndola. Zambia, who have never qualified for the World Cup at the men's senior level, will be aiming to start the qualifying campaign at home with a positive result, especially against Congo Brazzaville, who have only defeated Zambia once in history. Musonda's performance in the draw for Silkeborg elevated them to third in the table with 27 points from 15 games, five points behind league leaders FC Copenhagen.
