The Ministry of Youth, Sports, and Arts is working diligently to meet the deadlines set by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) in preparation for hosting the Chipolopolo FIFA World Cup qualifier against Congo at the Levy Mwanawasa Stadium. CAF has conditionally approved Zambia's use of the Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola for the 2026 World Cup qualifier against Congo Brazzaville, scheduled for November 17, 2023. Following a comprehensive stadium inspection, Ministry Permanent Secretary Chileshe Kangwa expressed confidence in the turf's quality and reiterated the commitment to restore the Levy Mwanawasa Stadium to its former status as a world-class facility. Kangwa stated that, based on expert advice, they have validated the stadium's capability to successfully host Zambia's upcoming World Cup qualifier against Congo Brazzaville on November 17th, 2023. The Chipolopolo boys have faced challenges in securing a spot in the global tournament over the last five decades, with their consolation being a single appearance at the Olympics.
