Ghana has confirmed a date with Zambia in the third round of the Paris 2024 Olympics qualifiers, following a 2-0 win over Benin in the return leg played on Tuesday. Ghana, who are on a nine-game unbeaten streak without conceding a single goal, won the first fixture 3-0 away in Benin and then 2-0 at home to set up a mouth-watering encounter against a high-scoring Copper Queens team. The game will provide Ghana with a good opportunity to test the resilience of their defense against Olympic back-to-back hat-trick scorer Barbara Banda, who is a force to be reckoned with and has proven to be a difficult player for defenders to contain. She even scored against former world champions Germany in a 3-2 win for Zambia in Germany earlier this year. Zambia has scored 11 goals in their last three games, while Ghana has kept nine clean sheets in a row, making the encounter even more interesting. Everyone who loves women's football now looking forward to the dates when the two teams will lock horns in February next year for a place in the final rounds of qualifiers. Zambia, who made their Olympic debut in 2021 as the sole African representatives, will this time try to be one of the two that will be goinng to the Paris 2024 Olympics. Coach Bruce Mwape will need to prepare his team well against Nora Hauple's side, who have been beating teams for fun in the last nine fixtures they have played, winning all of them without conceding a goal. These matches between these two countries will be interesting to watch and must-watch encounters with both teams looking to secure a victory. Only the team that wants it more will carry the day.
