The Zambian National Division One League is set to have a sponsor after playing last season without one, with ABSA Bank set to be announced as the new sponsor, according to sports reports from ZamFoot. The second tier of Zambian football was left without a sponsor following the end of the deal between Eden University and the Football Association of Zambia in August last year. The newly-formed Zambian Premier League (ZPL), which is now the custodian of club football competitions in the country, has managed to clinch a deal with ABSA Bank, who are already involved in promoting Zambian football as the sponsor of the only cup competition in the country, the ABSA Cup. Just last week, the ZPL clinched another deal with Betway Zambia for the Zambia Super League as the official betting partner of the league, a deal worth K10 million per year. It is not yet known how much money will be involved in the deal between the ZPL and ABSA, as the figures will be announced during the announcement of the deal, which will take place soon. The coming on board by ABSA Bank to sponsor the National League Football is a step in the right direction and a great start for the Zambian Premier League.
