Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) President Andrew Kamanga is currently in the United States of America on a wide-ranging business mission. He has taken advantage of this opportunity to explore football opportunities in the US and has held discussions with the Zambian ambassador to the United States of America, Chibamba Kanyama, and his staff. The USA, along with Mexico, will be co-hosting the 2026 FIFA World Cup, and Kamanga is aiming to create opportunities for Zambian players in the MLS. In recent years, Zambia has provided debuts for several players of Zambian descent who were born outside of the country. Some notable examples include Frankie Chisenga Musonda, who was born in Britain to a Zambian father and is currently playing in Scotland. Aime Mabika, who is based in the USA, is currently playing for Toronto FC in the MLS. Additionally, Inonge Kaloustian, who was born in the US to a Zambian father, is currently playing for ZISD FC in the WSL as a midfielder for the Copper Queens. Zambia continues to be an attractive destination for footballers with connections to the country, who are seeking to make their international debut while representing Zambia. Kamanga's visit to the USA is a positive step towards strengthening the relationship between Zambian football and the USA. It is hoped that his efforts will result in more opportunities for Zambian players to showcase their talents on the global stage.
