Earlier today, the National Olympic Committee of Zambia (NOCZ) warmly received Jathel Simwinga, a dedicated National Taekwondo Coach, at the NOCZ Secretariat within the Olympafrica Centre in Lusaka. Mr. Simwinga visited to bid farewell and express his gratitude as he prepares to depart for the United States of America (USA), where he will proudly represent Zambia in the 2023-2024 International Coaching Enrichment Certificate Program (ICECP). His participation in this prestigious program is the result of being awarded an Olympic Solidarity and USOPC Coaching Scholarship. During this significant occasion, NOCZ Secretary-General Boniface Kambikambi was present to offer words of encouragement and to articulate NOCZ's expectations for Mr. Simwinga once he successfully completes the ICECP. The primary focus will be on leveraging his enhanced expertise for the benefit of Taekwondo athletes across Zambia. Accompanying Mr. Simwinga were Gideon Kalima, the General Secretary of the Taekwondo Association of Zambia, and Linda Kabaghe, the Deputy General Secretary. The 14th edition of the International Coaching Enrichment Certificate Program (ICECP) is a collaborative initiative between the United States Olympic & Paralympic Committee (USOPC), the University of Delaware, and the International Olympic Committee’s Olympic Solidarity department. This program is designed to provide advanced coaching education to coaches who hold national rankings and hail from various corners of the globe. The core objective of the ICECP program is to equip coaches with the knowledge and skills required to become instrumental in nurturing future Olympic coaches and athletes within their respective countries. The ICECP is scheduled to take place in September 2023 under the auspices of the USOPC, headquartered in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
