Nkana FC has announced that the Kitwe derby, which was scheduled to take place at the 60,000-capacity National Heroes Stadium, has been moved to Woodlands Stadium, the club's current home venue. The 13-time Zambian champions had announced last month that the Kitwe derby would be their last home game to be played in Lusaka. Afterwards, the team will return to Kitwe for home matches, but without fans. To make the derby memorable, it was planned to be played at the National Heroes Stadium for the first time in history. However, in a Facebook announcement made on Wednesday, the club confirmed the change of venue. "Please note that there is a change of venue for the Kitwe Derby on Sunday, November 12, 2023, from the National Heroes Stadium, as earlier stated, to our current official Home Ground, Woodlands Stadium." The change of venue from a 60,000-capacity stadium to a 10,000-capacity stadium means that fewer people will be allowed to watch the match. The club has called on those who want to attend the match to quickly secure tickets in advance as no tickets will be sold at the venue on match day. "Woodlands Stadium means fewer seats available, as the demand for tickets for this particular game is going to skyrocket. If you don't want to miss out on this incredible opportunity to witness Kitwe Derby greatness live and up close, it's time to act fast! We strongly encourage you to secure your tickets in advance to guarantee your spot at this extraordinary game. THERE WILL BE NO TICKET SALES AT THE STADIUM ON DERBY DAY." The Kitwe derby involving Power Dynamos and Nkana FC is one of the most followed matches in Zambian football history. It is a fixture that fans look forward to season after season. The first Kitwe derby to be played in the capital, Lusaka, is sure to be a memorable one to witness.
