Former Chelsea head coach Avram Grant is enjoying his new role as the Chipolopolo national team coach since taking over in December last year. Under Grant's leadership, the team has won four games, drawn one, and lost one out of the six games played so far. They are yet to experience a loss in a competitive match. One player who has particularly excelled under Grant's coaching is Leicester City forward Patson Daka, who has scored an impressive six goals in just six games. Daka will play a crucial role for coach Grant in the upcoming 2023 Afcons. Grant has also been eager to give younger players the opportunity to shine on the national stage. Green Buffaloes goalkeeper Francis Mwansa and Prison Leopard defender Zephaniah Phiri recently made their national team debuts in a friendly match held in the United Arab Emirates. In addition to these players, Grant has called up other promising talents such as Golden Mafweta from MFK Vyskov in the Czech Republic and Francis Mwepu from Cadiz in Spain, both of whom have made their debuts for the senior national team. Furthermore, Power Dynamos goalkeeper Lawrence Mulenga, who was initially left out of the national team for the Dubai friendlies, has also made his debut under the new coach. There are also players who have yet to make their debut for the national team but have been included in the 22-member squad. These players include Victor Chabu from Nchanga Rangers, Gift Mpande from Atletico Lusaka, and Moyela Libamba from Forest Rangers.
