The Association of National Olympic Committees in Africa (ANOCA) has expressed its intention to engage the government in discussions about increasing the funding for Zambia's Olympic House project. During the African Sports Council (AUSC) Region 5 strategic plan review forum held in Livingstone, ANOCA Region 5 President, Alfred Foloko, shared that while the association had allocated US$100,000 (approximately K2 million) to support the construction of the Olympic House, this amount falls short of the project's requirements. The Olympic House is slated to serve as the official offices for the Zambia National Olympics Committee and will also house the secretariat for various member federations. Foloko emphasized the significance of having a dedicated space, stating, "When these federations are looking for support from the corporate world, they will need to have a home and say 'this is where we are found,' and Olympic House will serve as that home." Foloko pointed out that Eswatini had recently completed its Olympic House, with both Malawi and Zambia planning to follow suit in the near future. ANOCA's broader vision includes the construction of Olympic Houses in all ten of its member states. This move reflects ANOCA's commitment to bolstering the infrastructure and facilities essential for the growth and development of sports in Zambia and across the African continent. The engagement with the government aims to secure additional resources to realize this ambitious project.
