The National Olympic Committee of Zambia (NOCZ) expresses confidence in the increasing number of athletes from Zambia qualifying for the 2024 Olympic Games. Currently, only one athlete, flyweight boxer Patrick Chinyemba, has secured a spot for the 2024 edition. Boniface Kambikambi, the Secretary General of NOCZ, remains unfazed by the pace of athlete qualification, assuring that more athletes will earn their spots in upcoming qualifiers for sports like hockey, handball, and football. He anticipates the addition of team events to boost the overall representation. Notably, the men's hockey team is set to participate in qualifiers from the 29th of October to the 6th of November 2023. Kambikambi emphasizes the rising caliber of team sports in securing qualification slots, marking rugby, hockey, football, and handball as upcoming sports scheduled for qualification in January.
