Zambian striker Moses Phiri came on as a substitute to score the winner for Simba SC in a 2-1 victory over Ihefu FC in round 7 of the Tanzanian Premier League on Saturday. Phiri, who has fallen down the pecking order in the striking force for Simba, got the winner in the 66th minute after Ihefu FC had equalised through Ismail Mgunda in the 26th minute following Jean Baleke's opener for Simba just 13 minutes into the match. Simba are currently level on points with their main rivals, Young Africans, at the top of the league table but have only played 6 games and have a pending match against Coastal Union. A win in week 7 puts them in a good position to challenge for the title that was won by Young Africans last season. Moses Phiri's fellow countryman, Clatous Chama, played a full match in Saturday's victory. Simba will be looking to build on their perfect start to the season, having won 6 games out of the 6 played, heading into their next fixture against main rivals Young Africans on November 5th.
