The Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) has vehemently dismissed recent media reports suggesting that referee Leonard Akapelwa, hailing from Chilanga, handed out a staggering 16 yellow cards during the highly anticipated Musanza Derby clash between Green Eagles and F.C. MUZA. FAZ's Referees Manager, Aziph Banda, expressed his dismay to Byta FM Sports, stating that the claims made by certain named newspapers regarding 16 yellow cards were grossly inaccurate. According to Banda, the official reports from both the referee and match commissioners reveal that only nine cards were actually shown during the heated derby. To break it down, the referee administered eight yellow cards and a solitary red card. Banda used this opportunity to call upon the media to exercise utmost accuracy in their reporting, underlining the importance of avoiding misinformation that could mislead the general public. The aforementioned newspaper and certain social media platforms had accused Leonard Akapelwa, the referee from Chilanga, of brandishing 16 yellow cards along with a red card during the Southern Derby clash between Green Eagles and FC MUZA.
