Copper Queens midfielder Susan Evarine Katongo spoke to the media today following a 0-0 draw against Mozambique in their opening fixture of this year's Hollywoodbets Cosafa Championship being played in South Africa. Katongo said that the team did not have enough time to train together before the tournament started, which she believes contributed to the drawn result. "We didn't train enough together as a team," Katongo said. "I think we only trained for two days together before the tournament started." "The drawn result was a fair result for us looking at how we had prepared," she continued. "It's not the result we wanted because we didn't perform according to people's expectations and our expectations." Zambia will next face group B leaders Angola, who defeated Comoros 5-0 in the opening fixture to go top of the group. "Going forward, we will work extra hard so that we defend the championship," Katongo said. "In the game against Angola on Sunday, people should expect a win from us because we really need to defend this championship." "People should believe in us because we are going to deliver good results because that's why we came here for," she continued. "We didn't come here to just add numbers to the tournament." Zambia will need to get positive results from their two remaining group matches to be able to progress to the next stage of the competition. "Going forward, we need to remain focused and forget about the draw because that result is now water under the bridge." Katongo concluded.
