Young Zambian defender Miguel Chaiwa made his second UEFA Champions League appearance on Tuesday night, coming off the bench in the second half of Young Boys' 3-0 defeat to defending champions Manchester City. Young Boys were looking for their first win of the competition this season, but Manchester City took an early lead from the penalty spot in the 23rd minute after Matheus Nunes was brought down in the box. Erling Haaland converted the penalty to give City the lead. Young Boys were two goals down at half-time, and their chances of getting back into the game were further hampered when Sandro Lauper was sent off for a second yellow card in the 53rd minute. Chaiwa came on in the 65th minute, replacing Cédric Itten to see the game off. While Chaiwa was unable to prevent Manchester City from scoring a fourth goal, he made a positive contribution and helped to keep the scoreline down. The result means that Young Boys are out of the Champions League with one point from four games. They will now have to focus on securing a Europa League place by finishing third in the group. However, they will need to improve on their results if they are to do so, as Red Star Belgrade, who also have one point, currently occupies third place. Manchester City, on the other hand, have qualified for the knockout stages of the competition with two games to spare. They will be looking to go all the way and win the trophy for the second time in their history.
