The all-local Copper Queens will begin their Cosafa Women's Championship title defense today when they take on Mozambique at 15:30hrs in South Africa. Zambia won the tournament last year for the first time in history and will be hoping to put up a good fight to defend it by the end of the competition on October 15th. Coach Bruce Mwape has gone to the competition with a squad of 23 all-local players, of which 11 are yet to play their first international football. The Cosafa tournament will be a big test for the players, as some of them have only made international appearances against Morocco in last month's two friendlies. It will be interesting to see how far the team can go, as the competition will also be a good measure to see the strength of the Zambia Women's Super League at present, as the best local stars in the league are believed to have made the squad. The Copper Queens will be hoping to start their title defense on a good note. They have a talented squad, but they will need to be at their best to beat Mozambique. The match will be live on DStv, SABC Sport, and FIFA+.
