The Copper Queens of Zambia failed to beat Mozambique in their opening match of the Cosafa Women's Championship, drawing 0-0 in a game where Zambia appeared to have run out of ideas on how to score against a resilient Mozambique team. Zambia ended the first half without registering any shots on target, while their opponents Mozambique managed to have two. Coach Florence Mwila made some changes to the team in the second half, trying to turn the game in favor of the defending champions. However, Mozambique remained determined to secure a positive result in their group opening match. Zambia could only manage three shots on target, all of which were far from the danger zone and not enough to trouble the Mozambique goal. Zambia will need to improve their ball distribution in the final third as they head into their next group B match against the Angolan side. Angola recorded an impressive 5-0 win over Comoros in the opening fixture of group B, placing them at the top of the table.
