The government has emphasised its commitment to settling the outstanding bonus owed to the Chipolopolo for their qualification to the Africa Cup of Nations. In a statement from the Sports Minister, Elvis Nkandu, he affirmed that the team's qualifying bonus will be disbursed in due course. However, he emphasised the importance of the team and the technical staff maintaining their focus on achieving strong results as they kick off their upcoming World Cup qualifiers this month. Furthermore, he urged the team to work diligently, taking inspiration from the success of the Copper Queens, who led the nation to its inaugural World Cup appearance earlier this year. Zambia is scheduled to host Congo Brazzaville on 17th November 2023, for the first leg of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.
